Cold therapy using our coldpacks

Using our wheat cold packs straight from the fridge or freezer is an ideal immediate treatment for acute injuries as the cold reduces swelling and pain. By applying our cold pads for 10 to 15 minutes at a time causes the blood vessels in the affected area to narrow, reducing the blood flow.

Cold pack usage:
Apply the cold pack quickly to the affected area.
Using cold therapy is most effective in the immediate period following an injury. Applying our cold pads early and often for the first 48 hours will help minimize swelling.

Timing is essential.
Cool for 15-20 minutes and then allow the skin temperature to return to normal, for at least 50 minutes before applying the cold pad again.

Coldpack usage.
Apply the cold pad directly to the injury. Change the position of the pack frequently.

Use these packs as part of RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation)
Elevate the affected area above the level of the heart as much as possible. Effective elevation, combined with using our cold compresses will help reduce the amount of swelling to the injured site still further.

Repeat cold compress
Apply the coldpacks as often as you require, as long as normal feeling is attained in the area before repeated application.
